Phoebe Bridgers has been forced to cancel a series of U.K. shows after being hospitalised with appendicitis.

The US singer-songwriter confirmed the last-minute cancellations on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, assuring fans that she will "make it up" to them.

"I got appendicitis for my birthday," she wrote. "Everything in the UK this week will have to move but I'll make it up to you!!!!"

Alongside the message, Phoebe, who turned 32 on Monday, shared a photo of herself lying in a hospital bed with a drip in her arm.

The Motion Sickness hitmaker was due to perform in Kingston, London on Wednesday, before heading to Brighton on Thursday and concluding the run of intimate shows in Bristol on Friday.

Representatives for Banquet Records, who were hosting the Kingston shows, stated that they were "working closely with her global teams" and would provide an update on the rescheduled performances.

The intimate shows were announced with just a week's notice last Wednesday and coincided with the release of Phoebe's third solo album, Lost Weekend, which came out last Friday.

Phoebe did manage to perform during her U.K. trip before her hospitalisation, playing two shows at London's Union Chapel earlier this week, where she performed a selection of new songs from the album.

The singer is due to kick off the North American leg of her Lost Tour next month, before returning to the U.K. and Europe in November and December. The U.K. and Ireland dates are scheduled to include shows at Dublin's 3Arena, Manchester's Co-op Live and London's The O2.
