Perez Hilton admitted he was "in a bit of a spiral" and feeling "overwhelmed" weeks before his hospitalisation.
In a YouTube vlog posted on 28 June, the 48-year-old blogger explained how relocating from Las Vegas to Miami with his three children was causing him stress.
In the short video titled, I Fell Off The Wagon - In Every Sense! BUT, Hilton admitted he was struggling.
"I was in a bit of a spiral because I was overwhelmed with our move to Miami, and I didn't do these things that I know are good for me," he explained.
The star, who raises 13-year-old Mario, 11-year-old Mia and eight-year-old Mayte, revealed he had resumed working out and reading the Bible in a bid to feel better.
"I fell off the wagon in every sense, but I'm back. I went to the gym this morning for the first time in weeks," he shared with fans.
"I also went to church today for the first time in weeks. I also read my bible today for the first time in weeks."
On Tuesday, police officers responded to reports that Hilton, real name Mario Lavandeira Jr., had self-harmed during a TikTok livestream.
He was subsequently taken to hospital under the Baker Act - a Florida law that allows for temporary, involuntary detention and psychiatric evaluation of an individual experiencing a mental health crisis for up to 72 hours.
His family has confirmed the star is "able to communicate" and they are hopeful he will make a full recovery.
Prior to his move, Hilton revealed in March that he had been hospitalised for three weeks after battling a series of issues including the flu, a perforated stomach ulcer and sepsis.
