Ozzy Osbourne is gearing up to perform five songs at his and Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning concert this July.
Before we get into it - don’t forget - we could be sending you to Birmingham to witness it all in person. Keep listening out for your boarding call today and be the first caller through to get in the draw. The winner will be called tomorrow (Friday May 2nd.)
Former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar, who’s a member of one of the supergroups for the upcoming legendary gig, recently sat down with Loudwire Nights and revealed some more details about what fans can expect to see.
Hagar explained he’s been ‘studying’ Ozzy’s songs for his performance, saying:
“Everybody asks, 'What do you listen to?' Him. I'm listening to Ozzy until the 5th. I got to learn his phrasing. His melodic structures are so unique, he's such a unique singer. I'm so honoured.”
Hagar said that during a conversation with the gig’s Musical Director, Tom Morello, the Rage Against the Machine guitarist asked him which song he’d like to sing - and he chose Ozzy’s 1991 classic ‘No More Tears.’
“And then he comes back and says ‘guess what?’” said Hagar. “Ozzy’s going to try and sing five songs and he wants to sing ‘No More Tears.’
“I said okay, ‘Flying High Again,’ and he goes, ‘You got it.’”
He continued, “So right now, I'm singing 'Flying High Again.' If Ozzy changes his mind, I'll sing 'Flying High Again' and 'No More Tears.'"
During the interview, Hagar also confirmed that Morello will be singing Montrose’s ‘Rock Candy’ at the Villa Park gig.
The massive show will see the likes of Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Tool, Gojira, Alice in Chains, and Halestorm - as well as supergroups including Fred Durst, Tom Morello, Rudy Sarzo, Wolfgang Van Halen, David Draiman and way more.
We can’t wait to send you and a mate over. The winner will be called tomorrow morning!
