Oasis are reportedly being considered to record the next James Bond theme song.

According to The Sun, Amazon MGM, the new owners of the Bond franchise, are eyeing up Noel and Liam Gallagher for the job.

A source told the outlet, “The 007 films are one of the great British franchises. And who better to record the theme song than one of the greatest ever British bands? Liam's swagger and Noel's anthemic music would be perfect to soundtrack the new film.”

Noel is well on board with the idea. He’s a longtime Bond fan and has even admitted he’s written songs with the films in mind, meaning this could really happen.

Speaking to NME years ago, he joked, “It's a piss-take that the greatest British agent of all time has to be soundtracked by a bunch of fking Americans,” taking a swipe at the Quantum of Solace theme by Alicia Keys and Jack White.

“I've written a couple of Bond theme tunes. They haven't got very Bond-esque titles, so I would have to tailor the title accordingly,” he said.

The next Bond film is still in development. It’s being directed by Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve and written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

Knight told BBC Radio 5 Live that working on Bond is “fantastic” and that he hopes to create something “the same but different, and better, stronger and bolder.”

No word yet on who’ll actually end up singing the theme, but if the Gallagher brothers get the call, we’ll be keen to hear where they take it.
