An interesting design detail on a New Zealand high school uniform is giving Kiwis a proper giggle - and once you see it, you can’t unsee it.
A parent of a Cambridge high school student shared a pic online, claiming the design came from giving departing Year 13 students some creative input on the new uniforms.
There is a slight issue though. The final result could and most definitely is being mistaken for something a little more, erm, inappropriate.
To be fair, it’s not super obvious at first glance. The detail sits under the folded part of the sleeve, so you wouldn’t normally spot it straight away... but that hasn't stopped NZ Reddit from having a field day.
Kiwis flooded the comments, fully backing the theory that this might’ve been a cheeky final-year prank.
“Prob the last year school leavers having the last laugh - well played,” one person wrote.
Another parent said they heard that was the case. “Such a good job on them though, I’m super impressed,” they added.
“This is 100 percent the pranks I want to see,” said a third.
Another said: “Brilliant. Deserves about 5 honorary Excellence credits in Art Design.”
Someone else made a great suggestion for the next uniform redesign: “All graphic designs should first be run through a committee of 12yr old boys before being approved.”
Despite the laughs and all the poking fun online, the uniform actually has a much deeper meaning behind it.
“At Cambridge High School, our uniform is more than just clothing - it’s a visual expression of who we are. We’re proud to launch a refreshed school uniform that reflects the stories, values, and identity of our kura,” the school said in a statement late last year.

They continued: “This new design brings together tradition and innovation, weaving in the rich narratives of our house mascots, the symbolism of learning, and the unique imagery that defines CHS."
"From the koru and quill to the Poutama patterns and house stories gifted by Ngaati Korokii Kahukura, every detail has been thoughtfully chosen to represent the journey of growth, belonging, and excellence at CHS."
The full pattern doesn’t include anything rude - so how this one phallic detail ended up looking the way it does is still a bit of a mystery.
Whether it was actually genius prank or just an unfortunate design moment - there’s now a hidden detail under those sleeves that some students might not have any idea about... until now.
