Paying too much at the doctor's? NZ Redditor creates GP price comparison site

With fuel, food and housing costs the way they are, the last thing you want to worry about breaking the bank is a doctor's appointment.
We all know the feeling of dragging ourselves to our GP, feeling like death warmed up, waiting 45 minutes just to fork out a big chunk of change for a five-minute appointment and a prescription.
Thankfully, one clever Kiwi has created a super simple online tool to help you shop around for a reasonably priced doctor near you - comparing prices from hundreds of practices across Aotearoa.
DoctorPricer is a "labour of love" created by Reddit user Loves Dead_Rooster built to "help New Zealanders find affordable healthcare".
"GP fees can vary drastically, so it uses pricing data from publicly available sources to help you make informed decisions," the information on the website reads.
"It is entirely independent, non-commercial, and DIY funded."
All you have to do is plug in your address and age, and indicate whether or not you have a community services card. DoctorPricer then shows you a list of practices and their prices for enrolled patients of your age.
You can see your location on a map alongside the different locations to get a better idea of how handy they are to you. The site also lists the practices' phone numbers and website links, as well as noting whether or not they're currently accepting new patients.
When I checked, I learned I was paying $40 more than the cheapest GP near me, which is definitely food for thought in this economy…
Shout out to the Kiwi ingenuity of this mysterious Redditor, helping us all to save a few coins while keeping on top of our health.
