New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has dropped a major hint about Taylor Swift's wedding to Travis Kelce.

Mayor Mamdani seemingly confirmed the pop superstar will tie the knot with the Kansas City Chiefs player in the Big Apple over America's Independence Day weekend at the start of July.

During a press conference on Monday, he discussed the city's preparedness for a World Cup match at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, just across the river from New York City, on 5 July.

He said that he was "fully confident in the work of the NYPD" to provide a "safe experience" for sports fans, and continued, "We are the biggest city in the country. We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one."

Mamdani then went on to list other "big events" scheduled for the three-day holiday weekend, which will also mark the 250th anniversary of America's Declaration of Independence.

"We know it coincides with July 4, America 250, Taylor Swift's wedding all happening at the same time," Mamdani added with a smile.

When asked if he had been invited to the big day, Mamdani confirmed he had not.

"I wish them a lovely wedding. I'll listen to Only the Young at home on my own," he quipped, referring to Swift's 2020 politically-charged song about the 2018 U.S. elections.

The politician's comments support reports claiming that the Shake It Off singer and sportsman will exchange vows at the famed New York venue, Madison Square Garden.

Thanks to her friend Mariska Hargitay's Broadway schedule, fans believe the wedding will take place on Friday 3 July. The Law & Order: SVU star will take a rare Friday night off from her one-woman play, Every Brilliant Thing, on that date.
