Two new Peaky Blinders seasons confirmed, plus updates on the film

Great news for Peaky Blinders fans.

Tommy Shelby, Peaky Blinders

Big news, Peaky Blinders fans. Netflix and the BBC have confirmed a follow-up series for the hit show, and it’s already been renewed for two seasons. Plus, we have updates on when to expect the Peaky Blinders film.

Set in 1953 Birmingham, the story will follow a new generation of Shelbys taking the wheel in a city rebuilding after the Blitz. Steven Knight promises it’ll be “a hell of a ride,” packed with the scheming, drama, and danger fans know and love.

An official synopsis of the follow-up show reads, “Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel.

In a new era of Steven Knight’s Peaky Blinders, the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions.

This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.”

Of course, Cillian Murphy is all set to return as Tommy Shelby, and will also executive produce the show.

Plus, Murphy is returning as the character in the upcoming Netflix movie, The Immortal Man, which he recently confirmed on The Graham Norton Show is coming sooner than we may’ve thought.

"Listen, also returning is Peaky Blinders," Graham said. "Cillian! So, is the movie done?"

"Yeah," Cillian replied.

When asked when the movie will be released, Murphy replied, “Next year.”

While plot details are being kept mostly under wraps, fans can expect Tommy back in action, with the film reportedly taking place during World War II.

Steven Knight isn’t slowing down either. The creator behind Peaky Blinders is also writing the next James Bond film for Denis Villeneuve, and has just launched Netflix’s newest hit, House of Guinness, which has been dominating the charts since it dropped last week.

Sounds like 2026 is shaping up to be a good year for fans of the hit show, with the film and follow-up show reportedly dropping next year on Netflix.
