Spin bowling all-rounder Nensi Patel has reclaimed her place among New Zealand’s elite cricket talent, securing a spot on the WHITE FERNS 17-player central contract list for the 2026-27 season.

The 24-year-old Northern Brave representative returns to the national contract list after previously receiving her first WHITE FERNS contract during the 2022-23 season. Her recall comes at a crucial transition period for the team, as regular mainstays Suzie Bates, Lauren Down, and Lea Tahuhu depart following international retirements, alongside Sophie Devine who was on a casual playing agreement.

Patel’s return to the national setup is backed by highly impressive numbers. Since making her international debut in February, the spinner has taken 14 wickets, marking a remarkably tidy start to her T20I career. She currently boasts a brilliant bowling average of 9.8 alongside an exceptionally disciplined economy rate of 4.04.

WHITE FERNS head coach Ben Sawyer heavily praised Patel’s attributes and what she adds to the squad alongside fellow newcomers Flora Devonshire and Izzy Sharp.

"Congratulations to all 17 contracted players, especially to Flora, Nensi and Izzy who are new to the list," Sawyer said. "All three of these players add talent and energy to the group and we’re really excited about their future as WHITE FERNS."

Sawyer specifically highlighted Patel's consistency and tactical execution on the field, noting, “Nensi’s consistently accurate with the ball, and she has great control over her length and pace.”

Patel has already translated that consistency into immediate impact on the global stage. She made a highly positive start to her debut ICC Women's T20 World Cup campaign on the weekend, tearing through Bangladesh to take figures of 4-18 in the team’s first warm-up match.

Currently in England with the rest of the squad preparing for the main tournament, Patel and her teammates are gearing up for their first official Group match against the West Indies this Sunday at 5:30 AM NZT.
