Liam Lawson’s back in the points in Formula One.

The Racing Bulls driver has finished seventh at the Canadian Grand Prix after starting from 12th on the grid.

Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli’s golden run continues, winning a fourth race in a row.

His teammate George Russell started from pole but wasn’t able to capitalise as he dropped out of the race with a power unit failure.

Russell is now 43 points behind his 19 year-old Italian teammate in the overall Championship standings.

Meanwhile, it’s a positive result for Lawson who wasn’t able to qualify for the sprint race due to a hydraulic leak on the opening day of the weekend.

The Kiwi driver finished 11th in that race, missing out on the top-10 by just .04s.

Lawson then showed great composure in the feature race to hold off Pierre Gasly and claim six championship points.

The result sees Lawson match his best finish of the season so far, achieved in both the sprint and grand prix in China.

Elsewhere, heartbreak for Marcus Armstrong at the Indy 500.

The 25 year-old from Christchurch was in the lead with one lap to go before falling to a fifth-place finish.

The Great Race was red-flagged with eight laps to go before Armstrong took the lead from the restart only for another yellow flag caution to come out.

He then went wheel-to-wheel with eventual winner and teammate Felix Rosenqvist who took the chequered flag by just 0.0233s.

Armstrong felt he missed out on becoming just the second Kiwi after Sir Scott Dixon to win the Indy 500.

“I'm so disappointed because I felt like the last corner I was given two options: the first one was to either crash with my teammate, or I have to lift.” Armstrong said after the race

“And I chose to lift a bit, and, that was the situation. We were in position to win it. I can't believe it, honestly. Like, just so close, and I feel like I just made the wrong call at the most pivotal moment."

After a nightmare in 2025 when he crashed on the warm-up lap, Scott McLaughlin’s celebrating his best ever finish after claiming third place.

“It was tough last year, and it fought a lot of demons for about 365 days until today.” McLaughlin said.

“And even on the warm-up lap, I'm like, 'Just don't spin.' So, uh, yeah, I'm very happy to be back."

Sir Scott Dixon finished 15th.
