New Zealand singer/songwriter Mitch James has announced he is taking a step away after 11 years in the Kiwi music scene.
“I’ve got some news for you - I’ll be taking an extended break from music and moving into a new venture.” James typed in an Instagram message to fans, last night.
“Music has been my love, my life, my everything. But like any good story, it’s time for a new chapter,” he added.
His announcement came with a thank you to his dedicated Kiwi fans for their constant support.
“Thank you for every concert, stream, message and every shared magical moment,” he said.
He continued: “You’ve given me more than I could ever give back. My love for YOU - the people & passion for playing shows will NEVER die.”
Trust me when I say it’s far from the last you’ll hear of me.
While James didn't reveal what his venture will be, he said his new chapter will begin after his last single comes out next week and his final album drops in November.
Fans poured their love and support behind James’ decision in the comments section.
“The music is in your blood brother,” wrote one fan. “Chase some dreams the stage will always be there!!!!”
“Love you so much and you know we’ve got your back no matter what. What a ride it’s been ❤️,” said another.
Fellow musician and good friend, Calum Scott left a comment saying: “My Mitchy 🥹 I will support and love you no matter your venture.” “I look back with incredible memories of sharing your music with the world on the road. I love ya brother and I’m always here for you. 🤍,” he added.
James and Scott spent time together during Scott's 'Bridges' world tour in 2022/23, where James was the opening act for the UK singer.
No doubt there’s a lot of support for whatever comes next for Mitch James, but if he does return to the music scene, well, we’ll be here waiting!
