New Zealand fans of India’s hit crime franchise Mirzapur finally have something major to celebrate. The long-awaited trailer for Mirzapur: The Movie has officially landed, giving audiences a glimpse into the high-stakes, big-screen continuation of the brutal Purvanchal power struggle.

While the return of fan-favourite OG characters—including Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit, and Munna Tripathi—has generated plenty of excitement online, the massive paychecks landed by the lead cast are turning just as many heads.

Pankaj Tripathi Leads the Pack with over $2 Million Payday

According to reports circulating across Indian entertainment media, Pankaj Tripathi, who plays the iconic crime lord Akhandanand "Kaleen Bhaiya" Tripathi, has commanded an enormous ₹15 crore (over NZD $2 million) for the film.

This hefty fee solidifies Tripathi as the highest-paid actor in the production, underscoring his vital role as the anchor of the Mirzapur universe.

Tripathi’s reported remuneration is nearly four times that of co-star Ali Fazal (Guddu Pandit), who reportedly earned ₹4 crore (~NZD $800,000) for his reprised role.Meanwhile, Divyenndu, whose character Munna Bhaiya makes a surprise return to the big-screen story, took home a reported ₹3 crore (~NZD $600,000).

Directed by Gurmmeet Singh, Mirzapur: The Movie shifts the franchise from the streaming space to cinemas with a reported production budget exceeding ₹250 crore (~NZD $50 million).The plot expands beyond its original regional confines, promising bigger set pieces, fresh dynamic rivalries, and the same trademark dark humor and intense action that won over global audiences.
