Minnie Driver 'grateful to be alive' after 'really bad' car accident in France

Minnie Driver has revealed she is "grateful to be alive" after being involved in a car accident in France.

The British actress told fans she was recently involved in a serious crash in France which left her wearing a neck brace.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Driver shared a video of herself speaking to the camera from bed as she updated fans on her condition.

"The update from Paris is that I am actually back in London," she began. "I'm sorry about the filter I've put on this, but honestly, without it, I just look appalling. Even the dog wouldn't look at me."

"I got into a really bad car accident a few days ago, with my friend Ben, and we somehow walked out of it," the Good Will Hunting star continued. "Well, we didn't walk out of it; we crawled out of it, but we did get out of it alive."

Driver, 56, went on to insist that she and her friend were not responsible for the crash.

"To be very clear, it was not our fault," she stated. "We were driving on a country road in the middle of France, and a car didn't stop at an intersection and was going at speed, and we just T boned it."

The actress reassured fans that she is "fine" despite suffering a sprained neck and dealing with the shock of the incident, admitting that she has been crying "all the time".

"But I'm going to heal," she continued. "The reason I'm not dead, honestly, is the car that we were driving, we were in this little tiny KIA EV2. I've never been in a crash before, but the kind of 360-degree airbags are what saved our lives."

Driver concluded by praising the design of the car and saying she is "so grateful to be alive".

In the caption, the star also thanked the van driver "who stopped and helped us before the ambulances arrived".

"My brain keeps replaying the crash which is very hard but seems to be a necessary part of processing," she added. "Weeping too, feels good and helpful. Thank you to my friends, my family, all the people at work and especially my friend Ben and his family. I love you."
