The first trailer for ‘Michael’, the upcoming biopic telling the story of The King of Pop, Michael Jackson, is here.

And Jackson is played by none other than his nephew, Jaafar Jackson - and those genes are strong.

The trailer features the ‘Beat It’ singer in the studio with Quincy Jones (played by Kendrick Sampson).

A perfect mashup of his big hits ‘Thriller’, ‘Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’, ‘Human Nature’ and ‘Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough’ builds anticipation under a voice over.

“I know you’ve been waiting a long time for this,” the man says. “The tracks are made, the songs are ready… let’s take it from the top.”

“This is your story. Honour your past,” the voice says over clips of a young Michael enjoying time with family.

Embrace your future. That’s what people want.

The synopsis reads: “‘Michael’ tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life beyond the music, tracing his journey from the discovery of his extraordinary talent as the lead of the Jackson Five, to the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a relentless pursuit to become the biggest entertainer in the world.”

“Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before. This is where his story begins.”

The biopic also stars some big names portraying Jackson’s family including Colman Domingo as his father Joe Jackson, Nia Long as his mother Katherine Jackson and Jessica Sula as his sister LaToya Jackson.

As well as Miles Teller playing Jackson’s attorney and adviser John Branca, Larenz Tate as Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, Laura Harrier as pioneering music executive Suzanne de Passe and Kat Graham as Diana Ross.

Director Antoine Fuqua began his career directing music videos for popular artists such as Toni Braxton, Stevie Wonder, and Prince.

The film's producer Graham King is also known for his work on the 2018 Queen biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.

The biopic is set for release on April 24, 2026.
