Machine Gun Kelly quickly called himself out for mistaking his Kiwi crowd for our neighbours across the ditch.

MGK wrapped up the Australia and New Zealand leg of his ‘Lost Americana’ tour with a final show at Auckland’s Spark Arena on April 18, and let’s just say the end of tour might have gotten the better of him.

Mid-show, the ‘Bloody Valentine’ singer accidentally addressed the audience with, “Australia… I mean, New Zealand. Holy sh**,” immediately realising he’d messed up.

As the crowd started yelling in an uproar, he knew he had to pull out some quick comedic recovery.

Apologising on the spot, MGK started jokingly punching himself in the face to try win the crowd back.

“Hold on. I’ll punch myself. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” he told fans. “I was gonna say ‘Australia could NEVER New Zealand’… there we go.”

“Oh, my God. Auckland, I’m having a great time. That might have been the funniest thing I’ve done for my own laughter,” he said.

Hey, first off, I f*** with how you defended your land so hard, but I punched myself like nine times for that, dude.

Despite the slip-up, the energy stayed high, with MGK promising fans he wouldn’t leave it another eight years before coming back.

Fans loved his humour following the slip-up and noticing how much we ride for our country.

“LMAO, he caught himself quick though,” one person wrote.

Another said: “I love MGK for this, his humour honestly makes my soul happy. 😂”

A third agreed: “It was hilarious 😂.”

I think it’s fair to say that he won’t be making that mistake again!
