Metallica smashed yet another attendance record over the weekend, pulling more than 94,000 fans into Berlin's Olympiastadion for the biggest concert in the venue's history.

The band shared the news on Instagram after the show, writing: "Night after night, city after city, the #MetallicaFamily is bringing it! Yesterday, over 94,000 of you helped break the record for the biggest EVER show at Olympiastadion. Thank you!"

The Berlin stadium was originally built for the 1936 Olympic Games and has hosted some pretty massive events over the years. After renovations in 2004, its permanent capacity settled at just under 75,000 seats.

Turns out that's not much of a problem when you've got Metallica rolling into town with their giant in-the-round M72 stage setup. Because the stage sits in the middle of the stadium, it opens up seats that would normally be blocked off behind a traditional concert stage.

The previous attendance record belonged to U2, who packed in 90,000 fans back in 2009.

Then again, breaking attendance records is a bit of a habit for Metallica. Back in 2023, they outdrew Taylor Swift at Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium during the M72 tour, pulling in around 78,000 fans across each of their two sold-out shows.

This also comes less than a month after Metallica broke another stadium attendance record in Athens, Greece, where more than 90,000 fans turned up and reportedly generated enough movement for scientists to monitor the resulting "concert quakes".

At this stage, breaking venue records is basically part of the band's pre-show checklist.

Metallica are currently charging their way across Europe on the M72 World Tour before heading back to the United States later this year for their Las Vegas Sphere residency…

…And we could be sending YOU to catch their opening night at Sphere Las Vegas! Make sure you’re listening out for your boarding call.
