Following Metallica’s Eden Park show, Kiwis are trying to get their hands on the band's official Auckland posters, with one even selling on Trade Me for over a grand. Holy hecka.
Of course, Metallica tore it up at Auckland’s Eden Park a couple of weeks back, and fans got the chance to snap up two different limited-edition posters, either at the merch stands or at the band’s city pop-up store. Both versions disappeared super quick, with some people waiting for hours in line and still not snagging one.
The first print, by Aussie artist Ken Taylor, was the sixth poster in his Metallica Australia and New Zealand series. It’s a dark, volcanic beast of a design, with a skeletal grim-reaper figure on a black horse, lava everywhere, and a glowing moon blasting through the chaos.

The second unique poster was made by Kiwi artist Mr Wolf. He dropped a towering taniwha design, rising out of molten red earth, covered in insanely detailed linework. A full moon lights up the sky and the whole thing looks like the taniwha is about to buy GA tickets just to start a circle pit. This version was only sold at Eden Park, and Mr Wolf even showed up at the pop up store to sign some.
Now that the band have shipped out, fans who missed out are scrambling. One of the prints sold for at least $1,430 on Trade Me. Others are sitting around the $200 mark, but getting one at retail price is basically impossible.

There is a glimmer of hope though. Someone asked Mr Wolf if he’ll be selling more of the taniwha prints. He confirmed he will, in limited numbers, likely early next year. If you’re hunting one, keep an eye on his Instagram.
Ken Taylor also says he’ll release a limited batch, with a register of interest opening after Christmas so “hopefully they won’t be such a shit fight,” he said. You can follow his Instagram here.
Good luck out there. You’ll need it.
