I don't know what's taken them so long, but McDonald's is finally letting the grown-ups get happy with it.
As of yesterday, the fast food joint is offering the Kerwin Frost Box, which is basically a Happy Meal for adults. It includes either 10 chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac, and fries, a soft drink, a special McNugget Buddy toy along with a trading card.
It's the first time those toys have been in rotation in 25 years. McNugget Buddies debuted in 1988 and had new variations in '92, '94' and '96 before being cut off for decades.
The six different toys in the 2024 line were designed by American entertainer and DJ Kerwin Frost, who's chowed on Maccas since he was a young fella.
"I've loved McDonald's since I was a kid," he said. "I even had my own Ronald McDonald doll that I brought to picture day at school, and it was my dream to collect all the McNugget Buddies."
"Now, coming up with my own special set of Buddies – each one representing different aspects of self-expression – it's unreal, a dream come true. I hope the Kerwin Frost Box will serve as a reminder for people to hone their creativity and not be afraid to show the world who they really are."
Damn, who would've thought a message of self-belief would lie within a special adult edition of a kid's fast food meal.
Another way you can relive your childhood through your tastebuds is by heading to your local Night & Day. They are the only place you can snag a fan-favourite Fruju block that has also just been brought back from the dead.
