Martin's best walks in the Bay

Add them to your list if you have never been there!

I love getting out for a walk most days, and over the years I've discovered some awesome new places to go. Maybe add some of these to your walking list!

Otatara Pah Historic Reserve, Taradale - not just a beautiful walk, but lots to see! As it was once a pah, you can see the remains of terraces, dwelling sites and food storage pits.very cool. And once you get to the top - amazing views!

Shine Falls, Hastings - an hours drive north of Napier. The reward at the end of your walk is a spectacular 58m waterfall. It's a 1.5 hour return walk, so a good distance. Worth noting - the last part of the road in is gravel.in case you worry about your paintwork!

Ahuriri Estuary Walk - park up at Pandora Pond and do the 45 minute loop track which is part dirt and concrete and part boardwalk, where you can take in the wildlife and some gorgeous scenery. Some spectacular photo ops along the way! (See pic)

Dolbel Reserve, Taradale - one of my favourites. Such a cool walk.simply park at Dolbel St. or Trig Cresc. entrance and choose from one of the many tracks that wind their way up and down the hill through native bush. You'll have tuis to keep you company, believe me!

Te Mata Peak, Havelock North - it'd be rude not to mention it really! Iconic views from the top, and pretty cool to see sea shells embedded in the ground at 399 metres above sea level! You might see a few paragliders launching themselves off the peak. Lots of walks and tracks to choose from.
