One NZ Redditor has accidentally created a masterpiece on a slice of bread - and Kiwis are having an absolute field day in the comments.
Posting to the New Zealand subreddit, user @full_on_gamer shared a pic of a swipe of butter that just so happened to resemble a surprisingly accurate map of Aotearoa.
Now, while many would call it the best thing since sliced bread, the comments have gone rogue, turning it into a full-on roast instead.
As beautiful as it may be, some Redditors couldn’t help but hone in on what they saw as a weird flex in this economy.
“That’s about $3 worth of butter,” one commenter wrote, while another said: “Someone won the Lotto, it seems.”
Someone else asked: “Did you really have to flex your extreme wealth on us like that?”
“I can only afford a Waiheke-sized spread on my bargain bread,” a fourth admitted. And tbh, SAME!
“Are you dropping hints about being financially independent? People used to just post pics of their boat or sports car,” another added.
Others played into just how spot-on the butter sat.
“That bit of bread has more NZ than most world maps,” a commenter said.
Another joked: “Yeah, I can even see my house from there.”
I can hear the anthem looking at this picture.
No cursed internet image is complete without someone referencing the unwritten rule - an unwanted foot... which was shockingly missing from this shot.
“This picture feels like it should have a bare foot in it,” someone pointed out.
But fear not, the original poster made it clear that he was indeed barefoot as the photo was taken.
And for all the fun in the comments, some people were genuinely impressed with the result and suggested that money could be made.
“Start a TradeMe auction for it,” was suggested, as another user hinted at its worth, writing: “$25k later…”
Though I think if this slice of bread did pop up on any online marketplaces, there’d be a whole new can of worms opened.
