Maggie Rogers has revealed that a New York Times journalist took her on a magical date, only to learn that he already had a girlfriend

The exposé came in front of 20,000 people at Wednesday night's Rosalía show at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Rogers related to Rosalía in a video "confession" that a friend had set up the date.

"They're single, they're handsome, and they work for the New York Times," Rogers recounted.

While she did not reveal the name of the alleged two-timer, she claimed their encounter happened "a little while ago" and that he is a reporter for the Manhattan-based newspaper.

Rogers entertained the crowd with her claim that their first date involved him taking her to the empty New York Times headquarters for a late-night make-out.

However, the seemingly perfect date was tempered the following day by news that Roger's date was the boyfriend of a friend of a friend.

When Rogers confronted her date over the phone, he begged her to talk face-to-face about the situation, but Rogers gave him a hard no.

"That's my story. I mean, what a loser," she concluded.

The pop singer is notoriously private about her private life. Her last public romance was a five-year relationship with Del Water Gap frontman Samuel Holden Jaffe.

She was the latest star to make a surprise appearance at Rosalia's LUX tour.

Rogers, who famously impressed Pharrell Williams with her song Alaska during a college masterclass in 2016, has not toured since early last year.
