MAFS producers are accused of targeting widows for 2023 casting - here's their response

Rumours have been circulating and the show is getting slammed.

Australia's Nine Network has set the record straight about a very serious rumour surrounding the scouting of widows for its 2023 season of 'Married at First Sight'.

Nine found themselves in hot water after rumours circulated that the producers of 'MAFS' had been approaching women who had lost their husbands to sign up for the drama-filled show.

Yahoo! Lifestyle recently reported that producers had approached multiple women whose partners had recently passed, asking if they wanted to apply for the dating show.

Melissa, a friend of one of the alleged widows, slammed the show saying: "They are looking for a widow and messaging all the ladies that have and are going through this trauma, and some are very recent."

Nine has since put this rumour to rest by releasing a statement to Daily Mail Australia, denying the claims.

In a very short response, the network's statement read: "The casting of the next season of MAFS is not targeting those who have recently lost their partner."

Now that the casting for the next season of hopeful lovers is underway, I guess we'll just have to wait and watch how it all plays out in 2023.
