‘Married At First Sight’ 2026 Bride Melissa Akbay has apologised to fans of the show for her “insensitive” behaviours shown during her marriage to Luke Fourniotis.

In a statement shared on her Instagram, Mel explains it’s been difficult to see moments of herself shown during the dating experiment.

“There were moments where I didn’t communicate well and came across insensitive,” she began.

For that I’m truly sorry to anyone who felt hurt or offended.

She called the experience a “huge learning curve” after facing a few bumps in the road during her relationship with Luke - including largely blaming her on-screen hubby for their marriage struggles, having “no spark” and alleging he made her life a “living hell” on the show.

“I’m not perfect, and seeing things play back has made me reflect on how I handle certain moments. All I can do is acknowledge it and keep growing,” her apology continued.

“I’m sorry for not developing romantic feelings for Luke and that the experiment didn’t go the way we had both would’ve hoped. Luke is a good person and I genuinely wish him the best.”

Elsewhere in her statement, Mel addressed her controversial comments about stalking an ex-boyfriend.

On the show Mel admitted during the Rapid Revelations task that she and her friends would drive past their ex's house at night to confirm they were home.

She also claimed to have used fake social media accounts to monitor her exes and putting the behaviour down to her “Mel claimed she has “psycho, stalker-ish tendencies”.

“I do not think stalking is funny and I absolutely do not condone that behaviour. I was referring to something form when I was 17 and joking with friends - it was careless of me to say it the way I did. I regret it,” she added.

Mel also mentioned that despite her wedding episode seemingly showing that she failed to engage with Luke’s family, she did and wishes them “all the best” post leaving the experiment.

With all that cleared up, Mel has appeared to learn from her mistakes and is looking onwards and upwards for her future relationships.
