This article contains spoilers for upcoming episodes of the show yet to air in New Zealand.
In what could be one of the most shocking behind-the-scenes moments in ‘Married at First Sight’ history, one groom didn’t just slam his wife - he also took aim at the show’s casting team months into the experiment.
In never-before-seen footage (which hasn’t aired in NZ yet), Danny Hewitt claims he could’ve found someone better suited to him in the supermarket - just hours before telling his on-screen wife, Bec Zacharia, he was “falling in love” with her.
ICYMI - Final vows aired this week, and we ultimately saw Danny say he didn’t see a future with Bec, which came as a surprise given his alleged feelings for her growing as the experiment came to a close.
What we’re still waiting to see here in NZ is the final reunion episode. But after it aired in Australia, Bec sat down with the hosts of ‘MAFS: After The Dinner Party’, where she was shown the confronting footage filmed after the final test task.
“You’re telling me that’s the best you can bring me? You ought to be ashamed of yourself,” he told producers in the unaired clip.
He went on to say he could find better in the Aussie Coles supermarket.
I have a f***ing cushy little life, I gave up my life to be here, and I could roll into Coles right now, walk up to aisle four, there's a bird in there, and she'll be better than Bec.
He continued: "She can't be no worse, it's impossible."
Pointing straight down the camera, Danny slammed MAFS "executives".
"You're f***ing shit at your jobs,” he claimed before demanding, “Bring me better women.”
Understandably, Bec was emotional watching it all back, calling the footage “revolting”.
"Who do you think you are? This is why I say he's come on for fame," she said.
"If that's how you feel about me, why did you sit there for three months straight?"
What made it hit even harder was the timing. Bec said that same day - once the cameras stopped rolling - Danny told her he was falling in love with her.
Looking back now, Bec admits feeling “embarrassed”, calling herself a “fool” for openly admitting her love for the groom.
"That's the real Danny. That's the other side of Danny that Australia hasn't seen," she said.
Thankfully, Bec had Rachel and Steven by her side as she watched the footage, who looked just as mortified.
This footage comes after Bec already faced some shocking truths during the reunion episode.
In even more unseen footage Danny claims Bec's dog warmed to him during homestays because "all bitches" love him.
"I've never met a bitch that don't love me," he adds.
Elsewhere in the unseen footage, Danny claims he doesn't want to answer if he sees himself falling in love with Bec without a "lawyer present".
The clip is followed by a separate interview with Danny saying, "I'll never fall in love with her on a month full of Sundays, f**k that."
The full episode of Bec’s appearance on ‘MAFS: After The Dinner Party’ will air in New Zealand next week.
