Macklemore streaming numbers rocket as Ed Sheeran's remain steady

Macklemore has seen a huge boost to his streaming fortunes since he was booted off Ed Sheeran's latest stadium tour.

The rapper's 2024 single Hind's Hall, named after the hall at Columbia University that was renamed to honour a five-year-old Palestinian girl killed by Israeli forces, garnered the most attention in the early part of this week, as news broke of his removal from Sheeran's Loop Tour.

After posting a little over 5000 official on-demand US streams on Sunday, that number exploded to nearly 87,000 streams on Tuesday, according to early data provided by Luminate, Billboard reports.

That number marks the song's best daily streaming total in more than two years since its release on 5 June 2024.

The rest of Macklemore's catalogue also saw major gains.

Following Macklemore's removal and Ed Sheeran's response, Irish singer-songwriter Aaron Rowe was the next Loop Tour participant to issue a statement, declaring on Tuesday that despite his friendship with Sheeran, he would also be withdrawing from the tour, saying, "I would lose all respect for myself to carry on as normal."

Rowe, whose profile in the US has been fairly minimal to date, had the best Stateside streaming day of his career to date, amassing nearly 80,000 official on-demand US streams across his catalogue on Tuesday, according to Luminate, up 2665% from the day before.

Sheeran pulled just over 3.7 million official on-demand US streams on Tuesday, pretty much even with what was amassed on Monday.
