Kiwi Olympian, Lisa Carrington, has shared a new achievement - she’s going to be a mum!

The 36-year-old shared the news on Instagram, calling it “some of the greatest news” she's ever shared.

“Bucky and I are expecting!” She wrote alongside a photo of the soon-to-be parents standing in a doorway, admiring her baby bump.

Even their pup Colin was taking in the moment.

Knowing people would have a few questions, Lisa got ahead of the game and addressed her due date, gender, and the upcoming Olympic Games.

Lisa shared that she is due in late September and they’re keeping the gender of their firstborn a mystery.

As for the LA 2028 Summer Olympics, the Canoeist says competing is “still the goal”.

“But right now, my focus is on navigating this pregnancy.”

With that, she added: “Yes, I’ll still be racing at the World Cups in Europe in May… No, I won’t be racing at the 2026 World Champs or for the rest of the year.”

And as for Colin the cavoodle, well, he’s “very excited about becoming a big brother”.

Pregnancy so far has been a real learning curve - but feeling very lucky and very excited for what’s to come.

A flood of congratulatory messages has been flowing into the comments.

“Let’s go mama!! Pēpi (baby) is so loved already,” one person wrote.

“Congrats whānau 😍,” new mum and fellow Olympian Shiray Kaka wrote.

A third added: “Huge congratulations, Lisa! What wonderful news. This is, without a doubt, the most important gold medal of your life. Enjoy this special time…”

We can’t wait to see Lisa navigate this new and exciting chapter in motherhood.
