Linkin Park have announced a new film called 'Unshatter', a cinematic look at the band's journey through loss, rebuilding, and finding their way back to the stage.
It was unveiled during the band's massive return performance at Rock am Ring in Germany on Thursday, June 5, where a full trailer for the project opened the band's set in front of thousands of fans.
The film appears to chronicle Linkin Park's most difficult chapter following the death of Chester Bennington and the years that followed, including the addition of Emily Armstrong.
Directed by the band’s own DJ Joe Hahn, the film features everything from studio sessions with Mike Shinoda to behind-the-scenes footage and massive live performances.
The film's title and message seem heavily tied to a lyric from Linkin Park's 2010 track 'Waiting for the End': "The hardest part about ending is starting again".
If the first trailer is anything to go by, fans should probably prepare themselves emotionally.
All things going to plan, it’s hitting theaters later this year.
In classic Linkin Park fashion, they put their fans to work with a week-long mystery that had everyone chasing clues across the internet.
It started at the band’s Hamburg show, where a four-second clip of an old film-style countdown flashed on the big screens right before the band took the stage.
Shortly after, cryptic street art reading "Unshatter, the promise that I couldn't help believe" popped up around the German city.
Then things got even weirder.
Keen-eyed fans then noticed a mysterious countdown trailer appearing on Spotify whenever they played the track ‘Unshatter’, and some even spotted a sneaky link to 'Unshattermovie.com' printed right onto the tags of their new concert merch.
Now that the mystery is finally solved, we can sit back and look forward to it.
There's still plenty we don't know about 'Unshatter', but after spending years writing the next chapter, it looks like Linkin Park are finally ready to tell it.
