Lily Allen documentary film in the works

Lily Allen will be the subject of an upcoming documentary film.

Prime Video officials announced on Wednesday that they are working on a feature-length documentary that charts the British singer's life and work from her early years to the phenomenal success of her acclaimed 2025 album, West End Girl.

According to the announcement, the currently untitled documentary will depict "Lily's extraordinary journey, from the 'Queen of MySpace' who changed the rules of the music industry, to the cultural force she is today".

The "intimate portrait" will be directed by award-winning filmmaker Mat Whitecross, who previously made the Oasis: Supersonic and Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams documentaries, and will feature interviews with those "who know her best".

"The documentary builds a rich and revealing portrait of an artist defined by her creative fearlessness," the press release reads. "This is a story of resilience, reinvention, and an artist reclaiming her narrative on her own terms. This is Lily Allen as she's never been seen before. Raw, real, and redefining what it means to thrive in the spotlight."

The announcement comes off the back of the Smile singer's explosive breakup album West End Girl, which is inspired by the breakdown of her marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour.

West End Girl, which was released in October, was a critically acclaimed smash hit and widely cited as one of the most buzzworthy and culturally impactful albums in recent years.

She will embark on the U.S. leg of her Lily Allen Performs West End Girl tour - in which she sings the album in order and in its entirety - in September, before eventually wrapping up in Australia in November.

The 41-year-old singer previously gave fans an insight into her life in her 2018 memoir My Thoughts Exactly.

The documentary will launch globally on Prime Video in 2027.
