Liam Payne's 'heartbroken' sister shares her reaction to his last TV appearance

"You're a star Liam, you always were and always will be."

Liam Payne's sister has shared her "immeasurable pride" over his last TV appearance.

The former One Direction singer died after falling from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina last October. He was 31.

Before his tragic passing, Payne served on the judging panel of Netflix's talent discovery series Building the Band alongside Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland.

After a trailer for the show was released this week, Payne's sister Ruth Gibbins reposted the footage on her Instagram Stories and added a heartfelt message in honour of her late sibling.

"I didn't know whether to share this but it felt weird when I've raved about Liam's work and achievements for the last 15 years," she wrote.

"I'm heartbroken he never got to see how great he is in this show. He knew he had done a good job, we all told him this when we were at filming, but watching it back, wow!"

Gibbins went on to reflect on the variety of emotions she experienced viewing the trailer.

"You're a star Liam, you always were and always will be," she continued.

"There are a range of emotions I felt watching this, but one of the main ones is immeasurable pride, always. Miss you more every day."

Production on 'Building the Band' wrapped around two months before Payne's death.

His family granted producers at Netflix permission to air the series.

And in the trailer, Payne is seen offering advice to some of the competitors. "You have a lot of work to do, vocally," he tells one group in the footage, adding: "I need to feel that connection between you guys."

The first episodes of Building the Band are set to drop on 9 July.
