'No way': Liam Lawson gifted a sweet piece of home by NZ fan at British GP

The delivery is almost too Kiwi.

You can take the boy out of NZ, but you can never take the NZ out of the boy.

Liam Lawson got a sweet surprise - literally - while at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone over the weekend.

While hanging out with fans and signing merch, Lawson was gifted six blocks of Whittaker's choccy.

“Oh! Oh, no way,” he said as he saw the bag of goodies headed his way.

He thanked the woman, who shouted out: “All the way from New Zealand just for you!”

And honestly, it doesn’t get much more Kiwi than bringing them over in a zip lock bag.

Whittaker’s themselves even wrote a comment under the video, suggesting: “Whittaker’s x Glad Snap Lock Bags x Liam Lawson collab? 👀.”

Lawson looked chuffed as he walked off with his haul, and it’s actually the second time he’s been gifted the choccy. No complaints, of course.

Any New Zealander knows how much we froth seeing a bit of home overseas, no matter the who, what, where…

And commenters are making it clear in the comments, with one writing: “Only kiwis would understand our Whittakers chocolate, it's chocolate gold😍🔥🙌.”

“Us Kiwis know how to look after one another 🥝,” said another.

A third added: “Hearing a kiwi in the wild is crazy.”

Maybe the sweet treat from home helped soften the blow after Lawson finished 19th, taken out on the opening lap of the race.

Starting from 15th, he was clipped at turn five by Esteban Ocon’s Haas. The hit to his rear left tyre sent him off track and caused serious damage to the floor of his Racing Bulls car.

He managed to avoid the wall, but the car was too far gone to continue, triggering a safety car.

A tough result after a solid high – finishing sixth just the week before in Austria.
