Lewis Capaldi gives busker the best surprise after joking he hates fans covering his hits

"I honestly think Lewis doesn't class himself as a celebrity but an absolute legend of a human being."

One lucky busker got a surprise that he'll remember forever after the man, the myth, the legend Lewis Capaldi stumbled upon the street performance.

Busker Jake Cornell was singing to fans waiting in line at Capaldi's concert when the 'Wish You Were Here' singer heard him.

Posting to Instagram, Capaldi shared the fan's once-in-a-lifetime interaction.

"His name is @jakeecornell go check him out team," the singer urged fans.

In the clip, Capaldi, being the kind-hearted soul that he is, jumped out of his car without security nearby and ran directly over to Cornell.

He introduced himself with a handshake and asked Cornell if he knew his latest hit 'Wish You The Best'.

The two then began an impromptu performance together, dueting on the song while Cornell played his acoustic guitar.

Fans quickly flocked to the comments to praise the duet and admire Capaldi's act of kindness.

One fan wrote: "Dude, your give-a-shit level is off the charts! Thanks for having so much class and being an inspiration to SO MANY HUMANS!!"

"Only Lewis would come out and join the guy whose singing for the crowd .. respect," wrote another.

While a third said: "U would never get this off any other celebrity/artist. I honestly think Lewis doesn't class himself as a celebrity but an absolute legend of a human being."

Previously, Lewis Capaldi told etalk that he hates fans singing his music because they're "too good".

Capaldi is gearing up to release his new album, 'Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent', later this month.

He spoke to our very own Clint, Meg and Dan from Edge Breakfast about the new album and even took the right piss out of Meg ugly crying at his 'Wish You The Best' music vid.

It's safe to say we can't wait for the legend to make his way to New Zealand in July.
