Lewis Capaldi fans prepare to be 'emotionally obliterated' by his new music video

"Can we all stand up and give this young man the round of applause he deserves?"

Lewis Capaldi has just announced his return to music after a much-needed hiatus.

He shared his long-awaited comeback single today, with beautiful lyrics about overcoming struggles.

In an Instagram clip teasing the music video, which premieres at 7pm tonight, we see a young, musically inspired Capaldi strumming his guitar in old home videos, cut together with footage of him on stage and behind the scenes of his world tours.

“It’s been a while…” he wrote alongside the post.

The raw, tear-jerking lyrics include: “Most nights, I fear that I'm not enough // I've had my share of Monday mornings when I can't get up // But, when hope is lost and I come undone.”

Before it builds into the powerful chorus: “I swear to God, I'll survive // If it kills me to // I'm gonna get up and try // If it's the last thing I do // I've still got something to give // Though it hurts sometimes // I'm gonna get up and live // Until the day that I die // I swear to God, I'll survive.”

Fans are welcoming Capaldi back with nothing but love, support, and massive praise for stepping away to prioritise his health.

“Can we all stand up and give this young man the round of applause he deserves 👏👏 for stepping back and taking the time to seek the help he needed,” one person wrote.

What a role model. Welcome back, Lewis 🙌 The world is a brighter place with you in it.

Another added: “Something tells me we’re about to be emotionally obliterated. Again. ❤️”

Capaldi’s comeback comes just ahead of his rumoured secret set at Glastonbury - two years after he first announced his break at the same festival.

Back in 2023, Capaldi told fans he’d be stepping away after struggling with his Tourette’s diagnosis and mental health.

“You might not see me for the rest of the year. But when I do come back, and I do see you, I hope you're up for watching,” he said.

Don’t worry, mate - we are. My alarm’s already set for the drop tonight. Welcome back!
