Let it rip at the world's first farting competition and help 'normalise the process'

Let's hope it's not in a closed venue

If you think you're the best at letting one rip, we've just found the competition for you.

The world's first competitive farting contest will take place in India next Sunday which aims to 'normalise the process of farting.' The 'What The Fart' competition will judge contestants on the volume, length and musicality of their wind.

'What The Fart' founder, Yatin Sangoi, told Vice that the competition could help reshape cultural norms and might even be beneficial for public health.

"I farted in the middle of watching a movie with my family and one of them laughed, and said that if there was a contest, I would've won. That's when it hit me that while fart contests happen in countries like China, UK and US, and even have a world cup, we don't have anything like it in India."

"I want to normalise the process of farting. Even 20-25 years back, people used to fart openly, but now they've become all sophisticated and consider it gross, often shamed for farting publicly, when even doctors will tell you that farting is one of the healthiest human body functions."

There will be trophies up for grabs at this competition and cash prizes between 5,000 rupees ($109.84 NZD) and 15,000 rupees ($329.52 NZD) for the best rippers.
