With the celebration of Matariki among us this season, Lee and Tammy thought they'd have a crack at the 'Matariki Dance' which recently blew up on TikTok.
For those who may not know, Matariki is the star cluster that appears in the early morning sky in New Zealand during the mid-winter months, signifying the start of the Maori new year.
To help remember the 9 stars in the Matariki cluster, @hahana_official created a dance to a tune that lyricises each star. The original dance absolutely blewwww up, reaching almost 200k views on TikTok.
With the catchiest tune and simple dance moves, the internet is loving this dance and the awareness that comes with it. "I'm dying this is soooo good, love the mahi team 🙌🏾💃🏽🤩 lets gooooooo" one TikTok user wrote.
"Turned Matariki into a bop let's goooo" another wrote.
With a bit of footwork and some good balance, Lee and Tammy joined in on the fun and actually killed it. Mahi pai lads!
They got a few comments on Tik Tok too. "Wholesome af" one user wrote.
Hahana (original creator of the dance) is a platform that celebrates the best bits of Aotearoa in fun, bite-sized videos across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Youtube. It's a safe place to give te reo Maori a go no matter how much or little you know. So get amongst it whanau!
