Le Snak is back at NZ supermarkets - but not for long

The nostalgia has Kiwis running to the shelves!

If your childhood lunchbox wasn’t packing a Le Snak, you truly didn't understand the morning tea time excitement.

Whether you were into the cheese or just went straight for the crackers, there’s no denying they were the first thing you grabbed.

And now, the iconic snack has been spotted back on NZ supermarket shelves, but apparently only for a short stint.

After being scrapped back in 2022 (sorry to those still recovering from the loss), Le Snak has made a surprise comeback, being spotted recently in Woolworths stores and quickly blowing up on TikTok.

"War is over," one Kiwi TikToker wrote holding up a pack in front of a fully stocked shelf.

People are absolutely buzzing over the find, with one comment saying: “OMG WHERE DID YOU FIND IT? THAT'S MY CHILDHOOD SNACK! I CRY BECAUSE IT WENT OFF SHELVES.”

Another wrote: “Running to get some rn 🥰.”

“OMG, yes, I jumped for joy when I saw them," someone else added.

While it's not quite the OG we knew and loved, it's come back with the same name, just made by Aussie brand Uncle Tobys, not Bluebird like they were prior to being discontinued.

But honestly, we’re just glad to see it back in shops. A Woolworths spokesperson told Stuff they reckon the new Le Snaks will only be around for a few weeks, so you might wanna move quick to grab a pack - or two.

When they were pulled from shelves back in 2022, fans were gutted. Like, proper meltdown gutted.

One person on Reddit said at the time: "I no longer recognise the world we are living in.”

Another had “le shoque and la outrage.” And you know what? Fair.

And it’s not just a cheesy treat - Le Snaks have done great things in the world like getting a Sydney man who was fined for using his phone while driving to beat the charge after proving he was actually holding a Le Snak-like packet of crackers and cheese dip.

So while Le Snak’s having a little comeback moment, here’s hoping it sticks around - or at the very least, inspires the return of other iconic Kiwi snacks lost to the graveyard, like Airwaves gum!
