Join Mike for the latest episode of The House of Wellness with Chemist Warehouse on The Breeze where he is joined by broadcaster and presenter Laura McGoldrick, TV personality Carolyn Taylor, editor of The House of Wellness magazine Vanessa Marshall and resident pharmacist Piyara Perera.
Featured Guest: Laura McGoldrick
Broadcaster, mum and cover star of the August issue of The House of Wellness magazine, Laura McGoldrick, opened up about balancing her ever-busy life.
From her early days reading radio news to becoming a familiar face in sports commentary, Laura has built her career by saying yes to every opportunity, working hard and embracing the journey.
“Maybe I manifested some of it,” Laura ventured.
“I was just always really open to the journey and where it could potentially go… I’ve been doing the graft for a really long time.”
Despite juggling live TV, international travel and motherhood, Laura stays grounded, finding balance through early morning workouts, evening journaling and support from her family.
With two young kids and a globe-trotting cricketer husband, she admits it’s not always picture perfect, but her perspective, humour and passion keep her moving forward.
Featured Guest: Carolyn Taylor
Television personality and parenting columnist for The House of Wellness Magazine, Carolyn Taylor, joined Mike to reflect on the joys and challenges of raising her four-year-old son.
As a "self-professed non-expert", Carolyn talked about redefining success through motherhood, balancing screen time and navigating the overwhelming flood of advice that comes with raising children.
She shared her admiration for the Kiwi parenting style - practical, outdoorsy, and a little rough-and-tumble - and spoke with gratitude about being able to lean on her mother and trusted friends for support.

The House of Wellness Magazine Editor: Vanessa Marshall
Editor Vanessa sat down with Mike to chat about the August issue of The House of Wellness magazine.
Vanessa spoke about working with this month’s cover star, broadcaster Laura McGoldrick, praising her warmth, honesty and impressive organisation.
She also talked about family-friendly travel tips, including a spotlight on Central Otago, and delicious recipes, like a one-pan Moroccan chicken, all of which can be found in the August issue.

Resident Pharmacist: Piyara Perera
This week, Piyara came in to unpack one of winter’s most common complaints: dry, itchy, flaky skin.
Piyara explained that factors like cold weather, long showers, harsh soaps, dehydration and certain medications can all contribute to skin dryness.
Piyara advised looking beyond packaging and checking for skin-loving ingredients like humectants (glycerin, hyaluronic acid), emollients (shea butter, squalene), and occlusives (lanolin, dimethicone).
She also recommended lukewarm showers, fragrance-free cleansers and applying moisturiser immediately after bathing to lock in hydration.
Featured Product: QV Gentle Wash
With winter upon us, it’s more important than ever to look after our skin to avoid dry and itchy skin.
QV Gentle Wash is recommended for cleansing drier skin as it contains a higher concentration of moisturiser. It maintains the skin’s natural protective properties and doesn’t strip away natural oils like soap can.
It’s pH balanced, won’t block pores and is also suitable for skin prone to eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis.
