Lana Del Rey has recorded a theme song for the new James Bond video game, 007 First Light.
On Thursday, producers at Io Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios announced that the Born to Die singer has been tapped to perform the official title song for the game, which reimagines the origin story of the iconic spy character.
The track was written and composed by Lana, real name Elizabeth Grant, and David Arnold. The title sequence will be showcased via social media on Friday.
"Lana Del Rey is recognised as one of the greatest singer songwriters of her generation. She has created a truly unique aesthetic," a press release reads. "With 007 First Light's title song, Lana brings the James Bond universe into her world, re-defining the classic genre and creating her own musical interpretation for the game's reimagined origin story."
In addition, Arnold noted that he was thrilled to serve as a contributor to the project, having previously scored five Bond films, including 2002's Die Another Day and 2008's Quantum of Solace.
"The Bond theme is a unique storytelling moment; it has to capture scale, drama, and intrigue all at once. Having been part of that musical lineage, I understand how important it is to honour its heritage while allowing it to evolve. Lana brought an elegance and atmosphere to the song that felt perfectly suited to continuing that tradition while introducing something fresh for a new era," he added.
007 First Light is now available to pre-order. The game is scheduled to launch on 27 May.
Last year, longtime Bond producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced that they had given creative control of the franchise to Amazon MGM bosses.
Dune director Denis Villeneuve is set to helm the next instalment in the series.
Bond was last portrayed by Daniel Craig in 2021's No Time to Die.
