Our favourite animated K-pop girl group are getting the band back together.

Netflix and Sony have officially confirmed a sequel to ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ - the musical that had us all singing at the highest pitch to ‘Golden’ and struggling to get ‘Soda Pop’ out of our heads for months.

The follow-up is set to drop in 2029, according to Bloomberg. Which feels like FOREVER away, but now that I’ve mentioned ‘Soda Pop’, it gives us enough time to get it out of our heads again.

It’s no surprise that a sequel is on the way. The first film is now the most popular Netflix film of all time, with more than 236 million views to date.

Co-director Maggie Kang has been teasing a sequel for months, telling Variety earlier this year that she’s always wanted to expand the backstory.

“There’s a lot of questions that are left unanswered and areas that are not explored… We had to do that because there’s only so much movie you could tell in 85 minutes.”

Fans are buzzing about the new film, with one person writing: “OMG I AM SO FREAKING HYPED I CAN'T WAIT!!!!”

“I swear waiting for KPOP Demon Hunters 2 is the equivalent of me also waiting for GTA 6 to release, said another. “Both highly anticipated and definitely worth the wait.”

A third captured our reactions perfectly.

Others are raging about the length of time to wait until Rumi, Mira and Zoey are on our screens again.

“The kid fans are gonna be teens by then, they won’t wanna watch this 😭😭😭,” one X user wrote.

“Making the audience wait 4 years for another release is so risky bc if it’s not better than the first, you just lost your entire audience. They’re not gonna have the patience to wait for a third,” said another.

A third added: “Nohohooo, my hair will be turning grey by then... I want it yesterday!”

Either way, we’re all going to be counting down the months to 2029…
