You'll soon be able to expereince late night Kmart in the biggest way yet. The retailing giant is set to open an almost 5000 square metre store that will be open 24 hours, seven days a week.

Auckland's Manukau Supa Centa will be home to the largest Kmart in the country. When the doors open at 8 am Thursday 20th April, it will be the end of a decade long project.

Inside the mammoth store will be "central self-serve checkouts, wider aisles for easy wheelchair and pram access, bolder graphics for navigation, as well as ample fitting room space with 8x cubicles and 1x family changing room," according to a press release.

On opening day, Kmart will be giving the first 150 customers to make a purchase a free gift bag. There will also be free cupcakes and activities that are fun for the whole family.

Kmart Manukau's store manager, Sharlene Goberdhan, said that her whole team is pumped to get things started.

"It is almost a dream come true seeing the new store come to fruition," she said in a press release. "The team are buzzing with excitement to finally have a brand-new store and to be a part of the biggest store opening in New Zealand."

Kerrie Hughes, the manager of Manukau Supa Centa, said the new store will go a long way in getting locals the stuff they need.

"Kmart's commitment supports the growth and success of Manukau Supa Centa and meets the rising demand in the areas we serve."

Next on the agenda for Kmart is the opening of their 40,000sqm distribution centre in Hamilton later this year. The Ruakura site "will help ensure Kmart is well-placed to efficiently service its stores and customers across New Zealand and allow for further growth."
