While politics and moral differences may divide Kiwis, there is one thing that unites us all: complaining about stupid people doing stupid things.
A Reddit post in a New Zealand thread went beserk after one Kiwi asked: “Who is there a special place in hell for this New Zealand summer?”
We all know that this time of year can cause some people to switch off their common sense. The original poster’s answer? Those “who block the aisle to chat to their friends.”
The comments quickly became a dumping ground for pent-up frustration – and it’s safe to say around 80% were about terrible driving.
“People who drive into an intersection or roundabout when there's no room for them to exit on the other side. Then they act like it's not their fault they are blocking traffic,” said one user.
Another jumped on that bandwagon, replying “and then the f*cker BEHIND me starts tooting like I should repeat the first dickheads actions.”
“The people who dont pick up their dog's sh*t. They look around, get out the poo bag, then just move on when they can confirm nobody is looking,” added another.
“Those who lose all ability to drive or follow road rules in any car park, often goes along with those who can’t park in the middle of a parking space,” one user complained - because really, why have car parks become so hard to navigate?
Someone who definitely works in retail said, “people who never say please or thank you to retail or service staff.”
Supermarket frustrations made several appearances: “People who stop in the middle of a supermarket exit to read their receipt,” one wrote, to which someone hilariously retorted, “Hey, leave my Nana out of this.”
There is also the classic trolley-blocking scenario, where people “park their trolley on one side, and then stand on the other side looking at their phone/list, completely ignorant of everyone else that they've just blocked.”
Sounds like every Pak’n’Save experience ever.
“People who are so bad at driving that they need to slow down for even the slightest bend in the road, then speed up on the straights and passing lanes so you can’t pass,” continued the driving annoyances.
A controversial contender also made the list: “Ford Ranger drivers.”
“People who go through the drive through and don't know what they're getting so they sit at the box looking at the screen for 5 minutes,” was another comlaint, which I personally think is a fantastic pull.
And supermarket idiocy struck again: “People at supermarkets who looked surprised when the cashier tells them the price, they then have to scramble through a handbag searching for wallet etc etc.. who knew you had to f*cken pay! makes my eye twitch.”
Ah, you love to see it, summer in New Zealand: sun, sand… and so many idiots.
