Kiwi mum nearly misses the call of a lifetime from Ronan Keating

A Kiwi mum nearly missed the call of a lifetime after assuming her son was about to pull another prank on her.

More FM’s Adam Percival was chatting with Ronan Keating when he asked the singer if he could call his superfan mum, Vicki.

There was just one problem - Vicki had no idea she was about to receive a very unexpected call from one of her all-time favourite artists.

“I think she will legit freak out,” Adam told Ronan before dialling his mum.

But when the call connected, things didn't exactly go to plan.

Vicki didn't answer straight away. Instead, her phone screened the call, and a waiting game began.

“She's got no idea that I'm talking to you,” Adam explained.

Eventually, Vicki picked up, and Adam immediately let Ronan take over.

“Hey, Vicki, what's happening?” Ronan asked.

Still seemingly convinced something suspicious was going on, Vicki revealed she had been waiting for Adam to call with yet another prank.

“Waiting for Adam to ring for another prank call,” she said.

But this time, there was no prank.

“This isn't a prank. It is me,” Ronan assured her.

Once the shock started to wear off, the conversation quickly turned to Vicki's love of Boyzone and her history of blasting their music on road trips with Adam when he was younger.

Adam told Ronan that his mum would “freak out” if she ever got the chance to see him live – and it turns out Vicki had actually been trying to make that happen.

“I was talking to my girlfriend about that the other day. We were trying to win tickets on The Breeze,” Vicki admitted.

Ronan couldn't resist pointing out that she had been listening to another radio station in an attempt to win tickets to see him.

“I know how much I mean to you. You listen to other radio stations other than your son's to win tickets to my show, so this says everything,” he joked.

But rather than leaving Vicki to keep trying her luck, Ronan had a much better idea.
