Join Carolyn Taylor for the latest episode of The House of Wellness with Chemist Warehouse on the Breeze where she sits down with creators of the wellbeing app ‘Jasmine’ Reuben and Rebecca Bijl, Eating with Ease creators Emma Wylie and Sophia Dawson, Aleisha Black from Miscarriage Matters, and resident pharmacist Piyara Perera.

Featured Guests: Reuben and Rebecca Bijl

Jasmine is a new Kiwi-made wellbeing app created by Christchurch couple Rebecca and Reuben, offering a gentle alternative to typical mindfulness platforms.

Born from Rebecca’s calming floral photography and Reuben’s long career in app development, Jasmine delivers a quiet, minimalist experience with no notifications, no gamification and no noise.

Instead, users are invited to pause and breathe while immersing themselves in flower imagery and simple reflective prompts.

“I had been photographing flowers for a couple years now, and I kind of discovered the more that I worked with them… and spent time with them, I was like ‘oh I’m actually feeling really calm,’” Rebecca explained.

“It feels like a lovely renewal time.”

Featured Guests: Emma Wylie and Sophia Dawson

Registered psychologist Sophia Dawson and registered nutritionist Emma Wiley have teamed up to create Eating With Ease, a first-of-its-kind course in Aotearoa that helps people transform their relationship with food and body image.

Born from their professional partnership and friendship, the course unites Sophia’s expertise in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with Emma’s practical, evidence-based nutritional guidance.

Together, they address the overwhelm many people feel in today’s world of conflicting diet trends, social media pressures and hard-to-break childhood beliefs.

Eating With Ease guides participants through understanding the thoughts and emotions behind food choices, and loosening the grip of control and comparison - ultimately making more room for joy, flexibility and confidence at the table.

Featured Guest: Aleisha Black

Aleisha Black, chairperson of Miscarriage Matters New Zealand, founded the organisation after witnessing the stark difference between the care she received during a healthy pregnancy and the minimal support offered to her sister after a miscarriage.

Determined to bridge this gap, Aleisha now leads a charity providing care packages, information and compassionate community support for those navigating pregnancy loss.

She highlights the widespread but often minimised grief surrounding miscarriage, noting that despite affecting 10-20% of pregnancies, it remains largely unrecorded at a national level.

Miscarriage Matters is advocating for formal data collection to better understand causes, improve care and acknowledge the emotional impact on families.

With most parents desperate for answers but offered little more than ‘try again next time,’ she hopes greater awareness will help people feel seen and supported.

Resident Pharmacist: Piyara Perera

This week, Piyara spoke about Athlete’s Foot, a common fungal infection that thrives in warm, moist environments such as tight shoes, sweaty socks, shared showers and gym floors.

Despite its name, Athlete’s Foot can affect anyone, with up to one in four people experiencing it at some point.

The first-line treatment is a topical antifungal, usually a once-daily cream or spray, that is applied consistently. Although powders won’t cure an infection, they are great for keeping feet dry and preventing recurrence.

Featured Product: Arrowtex Melotin Melatonin

Sleep is an essential function that allows your body to recharge. As people age, the body releases less melatonin, which is normally produced in response to darkness and helps regulate circadian rhythms for sleep.

Common characteristics of poor sleep patterns include difficulty falling asleep at night, disturbed sleep during the night and feeling tired after a night’s sleep.

Melotin Melatonin is a prolonged-release melatonin formulation that is designed to mimic naturally-occurring melatonin and last throughout the night, helping you fall asleep more easily, improve sleep quality and wake feeling alert.

Always read the label. Use only as directed. If symptoms persist, see your healthcare professional. Do not drive, use tools or machinery until effect is established. Do not drink alcohol. Take 1-2 hours before bed. Arrotex Pharmaceuticals NZ Ltd, Wellington.
