A post on the NZ subreddit has gone viral after a Kiwi pet owner tried to figure out what mysterious substance his cat had returned home with. 

"What is this stuff?", user Odd-Caterpillar-1242 asked, alongside two photos of white 'rocks' in a small plastic bag. 

"My cat brings my family lots of different gifts," the post continued. 

"He has given us leaves, plastic bags, mice, food wrappers, beanies, soft toys, garden pegs etc...Today he has given me a big ziplock bag with little bags, a scoop and this stuff?" 

Unsurprisingly, the post popped off online, with hundreds of comments that largely agreed that 'Scarface Claw' had provided its owner with a "bag of meth".

"Looks like your cat is running a side hustle," one person said, while another said bluntly, "I mean, that's meth. You can no longer trust your cat." 

Others couldn't resist a bit of wordplay, suggesting "maybe it's catamine?" while another dubbed the devious feline "Heinsenpurr", referencing 'Breaking Bad'. 

"Slinky Malinki crept through the door, entered the meth house, looking to score," one person offered.

"The first one is free, then the cat will start using standover tactics," another chimed in. 

One of the only serious responses on the entire thread said the owner could take the bag to 'Know Your Stuff' to get it legally tested. 

Another reckoned: "It's methamphetamine, and you are in possession of a Class A drug. It's meth because there are little baggies with it and a scoop.

"I suggest calling the police and handing it over asap. Or destroy it asap. The longer you have it, the less likely it is that the cat dragged it in."

Of course, because it's the Internet, the legitimacy of this entire situation is impossible to prove - but the OP did respond to a comment in the thread insisting: "I'm not on here to waste everyone's time, I genuinely don't know what it is."

True or not, any cat owner will agree, this is absolutely the sort of mischief those little four-legged freaks are capable of.
