A group of young Kiwi fellas with a bit of rhythm have gone viral for creating a beat using what most of us would keep in the garage.
Going by the name Beatstreet, the five drummers - Noah, Daniel, Tristan, Elliot, and Lucas - have shared just 13 videos since April and already racked up a whopping 11.5 million views.
Their latest video, which has clocked 2.8 million views in just 24 hours, shows the drumline using their unconventional drums - classic Mitre 10 bright orange buckets - to bang along to Macklemore’s hit track ‘Can’t Hold Us’.
What’s most impressive is the group aren’t just banging on their own buckets - they’re reaching across in perfect unison, even using their feet to create angles and add movement to the performance.
As a girl who once used a plastic chair for an NCEA music assessment - talent sees talent, my friends.
Plenty of impressed commenters have been sending praise their way, with one person writing: “Does anyone actually know how hard this is 🤝👏🏼.”
“This is so satisfying,” said another.
A third joked: “🤯…. ‘HONEYY, throw away the drumsss, we’re getting buckets’.” 😂🔥🔥🔥
Their most viral clip is a freestyle beat which earned the group 6.3 million views.
People really can’t get enough of these fellas - with someone even suggesting the beat would be ideal for a family sitcom.
Plenty of others are keen to see the group in the next Mitre 10 TV ad. Honestly, there’s potential for these guys to be just as iconic as the iconic “Mate, you're dreaming”.
Either way, these boys are making a name for themselves VERY quickly.
I’ll be waiting patiently for the next update from the crew. Until then, their videos will be on loop.
