Kelly Clarkson has hilariously recalled how she once had to breakup with the same person "twice".

During her Studio Sessions residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on Saturday night, the music superstar opened up about her personal life between songs.

While introducing her new song I'd Be Lyin', Clarkson described a particularly awkward moment she had with an ex.

"I swear to God, I've had to break up with someone twice. That's a real story. That's true," she said, according to fan footage posted on Instagram. "And it was hard both times. You feel like a piece of s**t both times, P.S.

"And I looked at this person and they were like, 'What do you mean?' I was like, 'What do you mean? We were there. We were both there. What the f**k did you hear? Like, it was already hard enough on both of us. Why are we doing it again? Like, it's crazy.'"

However, the Since U Been Gone hitmaker admitted that the experience had inspired her music.

"That happens, you know? You say something and people filter that s**t and they hear what they want to hear. And it is crazy. So, I ended up writing this song. I was like, 'We need a song for this.' Anyway, the verse is more or less like what they hear," the 44-year-old continued.

Elsewhere in the concert, Clarkson reflected on putting toxic relationships in the past before singing her 2015 track, Piece by Piece.

"It's a reality for a lot of us. A lot of us... deserved better, and that's a tough thing to grow up with... it's a tough thing to find healthy relationships when you've never been shown one. But those are all excuses. I learned that in therapy," she joked.

Clarkson was married to talent manager Brandon Blackstock from 2013 until their divorce was finalised in 2022. The pair shared daughter River, 12, and son Remy, 10.

Blackstock died of melanoma in August 2025 at the age of 48.

The singer has two more Studio Sessions concerts set for 14 and 15 August.
