Katy Perry has issued a hilarious response to her ex Josh Groban's engagement announcement.

Last month, the You Raise Me Up singer announced that he was engaged to English theatre actress Natalie McQueen after almost four years of dating.

Katy, who dated Josh briefly back in 2009, belatedly reacted to the news in a fun TikTok video on Monday.

Using an article of Josh's engagement news as her backdrop, the Firework hitmaker filmed herself dressed in a white robe, pouring a drink into a glass. She then dramatically drinks the beverage, spilling it down her face and robe, before comedically sobbing and walking away.

Her 2011 pop ballad The One That Got Away, which she revealed was about Josh in 2017, played over the top.

The musician addressed being the inspiration for Katy's song during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live in 2018.

"I was not expecting that. That was a double-take and a spit of my coffee when I saw that," he shared. "It's very sweet of her to say that. I'm very flattered by it. But I was very surprised by it too."

However, he doubted whether he was truly the subject of the song because the lyrics "we make out in your Mustang to Radiohead" and "on my 18th birthday, we got matching tattoos" don't apply to him.

"I listened to the lyrics of the song. And I'm like, 'I never owned a Mustang. I don't have a tattoo. Are you sure that's about me?'" he added.

He explained that they split up after a brief romance when they realised they "were better as friends".

"We've been very, very good friends to this day. She's the best," he praised.

Josh, 45, began dating Natalie in 2022 and proposed during a trip to Disneyland, California in April.

Meanwhile, Katy, 41, is dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
