Kanye West has been accused of punching a man at a storied Los Angeles hotel.
The Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood, which is famously associated with the Los Angeles elite, was the scene of the brutal attack.
According to a complaint obtained by People magazine, West, who also goes by Ye, approached a man at a table in the hotel's garden at around 11pm on 16 April 2024.
Without warning, West then punched the man "in the face", states the complaint, which was filed on Monday, and accuses the Bully musician of battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
The man, identified only as John Doe, alleges that the punch knocked him to the ground, where "he hit his head and lost consciousness". West allegedly kept hitting the man while he was lying unconscious on the ground.
Doe claims he did nothing to provoke the attack and, in the days following the alleged incident, the rapper "falsely accused" him of "engaging in offensive and inappropriate conduct toward a woman" in West's party, according to the complaint.
In a statement to People, Doe's lawyer stated, "The complaint speaks for itself, and the reason we filed it under John Doe is that we wanted to give anonymity to the parties and see if the matter could be resolved confidentially in mediation."
