Kanye West announces he is going to reimagine McDonald's packaging

McYeezys on the way?

Kanye West returned to Instagram to make a somewhat cryptic announcement that he will be teaming up "with legendary industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa to reimagine McDonald's packaging." The post contains a photo of a burger/sandwich wrapped in a McDonald's branded plastic wrap.

Kanye, whose legal name is now Ye, also posted the new packaging on his Instagram story, along with the lyrics "next week it's the fries" - a reference to his hit song 'Gold Digger':

It is the first time Ye has posted on his Instagram since March when he was banned for 24 hours after going on multiple, now infamous, rants about his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her new boo Pete Davidson.

No one was asking for a McDonald's rebrand as far as I know, but if anyone's gonna do it, I'm glad it's Kanye West. Kanye, of course, became a billionaire over the last few years in large thanks to his fashion company and most famously the Yeezy brand of shoes.

The person he is collaborating with, Naoto Fukasawa, is a Japanese industrial designer. His website contains photos of his designs, which seem to largely be of household items and furniture, such as toasters, couches, chairs, and more. Mcdonald's has not yet confirmed (or denied) the collaboration with Ye and Fukasawa. Kanye and McDonald's did collaborate earlier in the year in an ad for the Superbowl.

Only time will tell if the rebrand will go through. After the last few years, nothing really surprises us about Kanye anymore. What's a Maccas rebrand to someone who's video bombed Taylor Swift, dressed up as a Sprite bottle, and ran for President?
