Kacey Musgraves has cancelled three shows from her upcoming Middle of Nowhere Tour, including the opening night gig in Chicago.

Fans who bought tickets for the singer's August and September shows in Chicago, Boston and Brooklyn received an email telling them that the show had been cancelled, and that tickets would be refunded, People reports.

The Chicago and Boston shows were originally added to the itinerary due to public demand.

No explanation has been offered, but fans have speculated the axings were due to low ticket sales AKA the so-called 'blue dot fever' that takes its name from the blue dots that represent available seats in a venue's seating chart. Other acts recently affected include Kiefer Sutherland, Meghan Trainor, The Pussycat Dolls and Roxette.

Musgraves is currently on holiday in Greece, from where the eight-time Grammy Award winner has been sharing updates and photos from her travels on social media. As news of the cancellations surfaced, she posted a string of Instagram Stories showing her snorkelling and touring ancient ruins.

The North American leg of the Middle of Nowhere Tour, in support of Musgraves' recent album of the same name, concludes on 27 October in Seattle. In January 2027, she will embark on a brief Australian tour before heading to Europe the following month.
