'Uproar' delves into the life of a 17-year-old student, Josh Waaka, portrayed by Julian Dennison, who embarks on a transformative journey of self-discovery and courage against the backdrop of the tumultuous 1981 Springbok tour.

Discussing their roles, Julian and James shared how they play brothers, with James being the sporty brother, and Julian being the acting brother. Paul chimed in with a laugh: "I've got two boys exactly like that.".

'Uproar' is set to reflect a challenging period in New Zealand's history.

Julian and James immersed themselves in the era, studying archival footage and learning about the social and political landscape of the 1980s.

"Being Maori in Dunedin in 1980s would have been very hard. You know, talking to my grandparents - my nans, my koros, and even my mum and my dad. My mum, who is in the film, was even at the Hamilton marches."

While Uproar tackles some tricky subject matter, it's also going to be serving up the laughs with renowned comedic actor Rhys Darby.

Of course, we had to ask about the behind-the-scenes experience, including catering on set. Julian and James revealed that "it differs from movie to movie." "Sometimes it could be like a little muesli bar, or Eta chips. And then you'll go to some of the bigger ones and it's like, you know, hot food".
